Day 2 of Parish Annual Retreat: A Day of Reconciliation and Renewal

The second day of the Parish Annual Retreat at St Antony Church, Kulur, Mangalore was observed as a Day of Reconciliation, drawing many faithful to experience God’s mercy through the Sacrament of Confession.

To facilitate the faithful, nine priests were available to hear confessions, giving parishioners the opportunity to reconcile with God and prepare their hearts during this grace-filled retreat.

The evening programme included Praise and Worship, Eucharistic Adoration, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, creating a deeply prayerful atmosphere for the participants.

The retreat was preached by Rev. Fr. Basil Vas, Parish Priest of Vorkady Church. In his sermon, Fr. Basil reflected on the Holy Father’s recent Apostolic Exhortation “Dilexi te” (Latin: I Have Loved You). He explained the key teachings of the document, highlighting the Pope’s message that love for Christ must be expressed through love and service to the poor and marginalized.

Fr. Basil emphasized that the exhortation reaffirms the Church’s long-standing principle of the “preferential option for the poor,” reminding the faithful that genuine Christian discipleship calls for compassion, solidarity, and active service to those in need.

The final day of the retreat will be held on Sunday and will be dedicated to families. Special prayers will also be offered for peace in the Middle East, entrusting the region and its people to God’s mercy and protection.
