The three-day Parish Annual Retreat at St Antony Church, Kulur, Mangalore began today with deep spiritual fervour and active participation from parishioners. More than 250 faithful gathered on the first day to take part in the retreat and experience a time of prayer, reflection, and renewal.
The retreat is being preached by Rev. Fr. Basil Vas, Parish Priest of Vorkady Church, along with his team. In his introductory talk, Fr. Basil reflected on the immense love of God for humanity, drawing from several Biblical references to highlight how God continually reaches out to His people with mercy and compassion.
During the Holy Eucharist, Fr. Basil delivered a powerful homily on sin and God’s forgiveness, reminding the faithful that no sin is greater than God’s mercy and encouraging everyone to return to God with a sincere and repentant heart.
The praise and worship and Eucharistic adoration were led by Mr. Elias Coelho, creating a prayerful and reflective atmosphere. The singing ministry was animated by Mr. Simon Pais, who also accompanied the service on the keyboard.
The retreat began with the Way of the Cross, prayerfully led by the members of Nithyadhar Ward, helping the faithful meditate on the passion and sacrifice of Christ. The day concluded with Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction, allowing parishioners to spend quiet moments in the presence of the Lord.
On the second day of the retreat tomorrow, the Sacrament of Confession will be available from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM, giving the faithful an opportunity for spiritual reconciliation and preparation.
The parish community looks forward to the remaining days of the retreat as a time of spiritual renewal, repentance, and deeper experience of God’s love.
