ICYM Kulur Unit Spreads Christmas Joy at Prashanth Nivas, Jeppu

Mangaluru, December 14, 2025:

The ICYM Kulur Unit brought warmth, joy, and the true spirit of Christmas to St Joseph Prashanth Nivas, a charitable institution run by the Sisters of Charity for the elderly and for persons who are mentally and physically challenged.

Home to around 250 inmates, Prashanth Nivas witnessed a heart-touching celebration as ICYM members spent quality time with the residents, engaging them through Christmas carols, action songs, and joyful interactions . The youth also sat with the elderly, patiently listening to their stories and sharing moments of companionship that brought visible comfort and smiles.

As part of the outreach, the ICYM Kulur Unit collected ₹57,100 through generous contributions from parishioners. The funds were used to provide essential items including basmati  rice, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair oil, soap, and body scrub, catering to the daily needs of the inmates.

A simple yet meaningful programme marked the visit, highlighted by carol singing, fun activities, and the cutting and sharing of a Christmas cake, adding to the festive cheer. The Sisters of Prashanth Nivas warmly welcomed the group and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the love, care, and solidarity shown towards the residents.

The visit stood as a powerful reminder of the essence of Christmas— sharing, compassion, and presence —leaving lasting memories for both the residents and the young volunteers of ICYM.
