ANCHOR 2025, a one-day youth formation and empowerment program, was organized by Parish Youth Commission in collaboration with the ICYM Kulur Unit on Sunday, 27th July 2025, at the St. Antony Church Mini Hall, bringing together 65 enthusiastic parish youth. The event served as a dynamic platform to equip young minds with faith-based direction, practical relationship guidance, and vibrant community bonding.
The day began on an energetic note with ice-breaker games and energizers conducted by the ICYM Executive Committee of the Episcopal Deanery helping participants warm up and connect even before the official start of the event.
The formal program commenced with a prayer service lead by the members of ICYM. This was followed by the unveiling of the ANCHOR 2K25 banner, symbolizing the official launch of the day’s spiritual and educational journey. The event then moved into a moment of recognition, with the felicitation of two esteemed members of ICYM Kulur Unit. Ms Suzannha Ferrao, for being nominated as the PRO of the ICYM Central Council, Mangalore and Mr. Listan Gavin Pinto, for being elected as the President of the ICYM Episcopal Deanery. The Presidential Address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo, who inspired the youth to make conscious, faith-filled decisions and to embrace their lives and vocations as responses to God’s unique call. Mr. Arwin Monteiro delivered the Welcome Speech, and Ms. Ishal Monteiro gave Vote of Thanks. The Inaugural programme was compered by Ms. Sneha Lobo, who’s graceful and composed presence set a reverent tone for the day.
The first session of the day titled “Preparing Youth for Family Life,” was conducted by Rev. Dr. Praveen Leo Lasrado, a Moral Theologian and Secretary of Catholic Board of Education Diocese of Mangalore. Fr. Praveen delivered a powerful and engaging session offering a compelling blend of Church teaching, pastoral wisdom, and real-life relevance. Drawing on Canon Law, he emphasized that the family is not just a social unit, but the domestic Church—an essential foundation of faith, love, and moral formation.Fr. Praveen highlighted the responsibilities and spiritual dimensions of family life, and the importance of preparing for marriage with maturity and intentionality. The session stood out for its interactive format, with Fr. Praveen answering numerous personal and practical queries from the participants, making it both informative and engaging. His message called on the youth to approach family life as a sacred vocation rather than a mere life event. Ms. Neeshma D’Souza Welcomed and Introduced the resource person and Ms. Anshel D’Souza expressed words of gratitude
The Second session was led by Mr Chris Crasta on the theme “Choosing the Right Life Partner – Right Choice,” In this insightful and practical session, Mr. Crasta delved into the theme of selecting a life partner with remarkable clarity and depth. Through a blend of personal reflections, engaging group activities, and value-based analysis, he guided participants in understanding the key elements that contribute to building a meaningful and lasting relationship. Emphasizing the importance of making thoughtful decisions rooted in faith and personal values, the session highlighted how such choices pave the way for genuine joy and lifelong fulfilment. Ms. Avisha D’Souza extended warm welcome and introduced the Resource person and Ms. Jesvita D’Souza delivered vote of thanks.
The ICYM Deanery Executive Team brought vibrant energy to the event through lively dance performances, fun games, and engaging team-building activities, adding a joyful and interactive flavour to the day. A warm welcome to the ECD Team was given by Mr. Daniel Santhanaz, while Mr. Rodney Misquith delivered the vote of thanks in appreciation of their efforts.
The program concluded with a vibrant feedback session, during which participants shared overwhelmingly positive responses, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the insightful sessions, inspiring speakers, and the overall enriching experience. Ms. Renisha Jane D’Souza handled the responsibility as a compere, guiding the remainder of the program with confidence, warmth, and enthusiasm. The day drew to a graceful close with a final prayer of thanksgiving, bringing an end to a truly memorable, faith-filled, and spiritually uplifting experience. During the event, the ICYM Central Council President, Secretary, and other office bearers from the Diocese of Mangalore graced the venue with a courtesy visit.
ANCHOR 2025 stood as a beacon of faith, formation, and fellowship—empowering the parish youth to live with purpose, rooted in Catholic values.
